Dunner Morph
Description:
The Dunner morph is a distinctive bearded dragon variety known for its unique scale arrangement and irregular patterns. Instead of the typical orderly scale direction, Dunners have scales that point in multiple directions, giving them a rougher, more textured feel. Their markings are often scattered, with spots and splotches across the body, tail, and legs, creating a wild, untamed look.
Genetics:
Dunner is a dominant morph, meaning only one parent needs to carry the gene for offspring to display the trait. Breeding two Dunners together can produce a full clutch of Dunner offspring, often with intensified patterns and colors.
Special Requirements:
- Requires the same husbandry as standard bearded dragons.
- Due to their unique scale texture, Dunners can sometimes trap shed skin — regular shedding checks are important.
- Enhances patterns and colors when combined with other morphs like Hypo or Trans.
- Maintain genetic diversity by avoiding repeated close-relative pairings.
Care Information:
- UVB: High-output T5 UVB lighting (10–12%) covering most of the enclosure.
- Temperatures: Basking 38–42°C (adults) — 40–45°C for babies; cool side ~26–28°C.
- Diet: Fresh leafy greens, vegetables, and live insects such as crickets, roaches, and BSF larvae dusted with calcium and vitamins.
- Supplements: Juveniles — calcium 4–5×/week, multivitamin 1–2×/week; Adults — calcium 2–3×/week, multivitamin ~1×/week.
