Witblits Morph
Description:
Witblits are a visually striking morph prized for their very light, almost white base coloration combined with soft pattern suppression and a smooth scale texture. They often display subtle pale tones — cream, soft yellow, or very light grey — resulting in a clean, high-contrast look when paired with darker eye or nail pigmentation.
Genetics:
Witblits typically represent a set of genetics that reduce pattern and deepen pale coloration; in many lines they behave as a recessive or complex trait depending on the specific strain. When combined with other morphs (e.g., Hypo, Trans, Leatherback), Witblits can create very pale, show-quality combos.
Special Requirements:
- Standard bearded dragon husbandry applies, with attention to skin condition due to pale colouring making issues more visible.
- Monitor shedding closely — pale skins can reveal retained shed more clearly.
- Avoid excessive direct UV through glass that might cause glare or overheating; proper mounted UVB placement is preferred.
- As with other pale morphs, keep a balanced breeding program to maintain vigor — avoid excessive line-breeding.
Care Information:
- UVB: Provide high-output T5 UVB lighting (10–12%) covering most of the enclosure.
- Temperatures: Basking 38–42°C (adults) — 40–45°C for babies; cool side ~26–28°C.
- Diet: Fresh leafy greens daily, safe vegetables, and live insects (crickets, roaches, BSF larvae) dusted with calcium and vitamins.
- Supplements: Juveniles — calcium 4–5×/week and multivitamin 1–2×/week; Adults — calcium 2–3×/week and multivitamin ~1×/week. Avoid daily over-supplementation.
